This house is located in the state of Illinois, U.S., and was designed in 1967 by the architect John Replinger. The iconic elements of a mid-century modern house are all there: open plan, floor to ceiling glass walls, a flat roof and discreet furniture that donโt distract from appreciating the outside view.
The mid-century modern period is also called โthe atomic ageโ. Space adventures and technology innovations inspired many well-known designers to create pieces -as the George Nelson Atomic Ball Clock- to celebrate the incredible achievements of the period.
Many of those pieces became icons of mid-century modern design that we still celebrate today.
Eichler hired Ernie Braun to photograph the house. The photos impressed Belluschi so much that he remarked to Eichler that they showed off the house even more than the images published by Life.
