Color suggestions for my MCM home

mcm home

We’re new at the MCM remodel. We just purchased this 1950 amazing property, and would love some suggestions on colors.

Our facebook group had lots of ideas for what would suit this home.

Below are a few comments on this topic that were shared in our exclusive Facebook Group dedicated to midcentury modern home owners. If you own a midcentury house and are not already a member, join us now!

  • “Look at the natural environment around the house for some color options. Also, midcentury colors are available online and in paint stores. Neutrals and earth tones can be accented with bright areas like a front door, and complimented by flowers and plants.
  • “It’s a great house. Don’t rush. It’s all about the views and windows so you don’t want to distract from that.
  • “Great bones. Definitely live with it a while and don’t paint any wood that isn’t already painted.
  • “Beautiful house. I like the idea of waiting a bit before deciding on changes. Four years ago I downsized from a 13-room 1885 Queen Anne (30-year restoration project) to a 4-room 1952 Usonian. The latter’s interior was entirely painted in old dirty beige, so I repainted. I used some of the same colors in that house as in the Victorian because I liked them and thought they looked good in the rooms, consulting Sherwin-Williams’ MCM colors.”
  • “Have you considered removing the lattice? It doesn’t appear to be original.”
  • “Maybe the palette is there and needs to be freshened?”
  • “Don’t change a thing…”
