What floor would you choose?

We are demo-ing because the pink tiles are plastic and falling off. There is mold growing behind the tiles. I ordered pink tiles for the tub surround and we are keeping the pink tub! My husband dislikes terrazzo and I dislike black. This is a painted stencil floor. Knowing that, what floor would you choose for a pink bathroom?

  • Maybe honor the hex pattern and do an updated, larger format in white?
  • You could do polished concrete. But heat the floors:)
  • “White subway with the pink. Or get new white hexagons. Keep it simple. Please keep the sink too. Super cute.”
  • “I’d just recreate the existing floor. You should be able to through Daltile…or do it yourself. Keep the vanity/counter if you can. I’d leave the walls drywall and paint pink or wallpaper. I’ve also thought of cheap white 4×4 and then a border of the pink, wallpaper or paint the top 1/2. Good luck! I’m with you on the black and white. I wouldn’t be apposed to terrazzo.”
  • “I think you could use a complementary color and it would look just as cool!! You said you don’t like black; what about charcoal grey, mint green, or navy blue?.”
  • Matching the pink could be tough. I might just go with white small hex. clean and simple and in the spirit of what was there originally.
  • What about slate? You can pick up the pinks from the tub with it, it avoids black, and isn’t terrazzo? My sisters 1963 home had it in the master bath and foyer so it is period correct.
  • “Cork. We love it in our bathroom. Comes in various colours Warm. Doesn’t show the dirt or hairs! Been absolutely perfect and we chose it to keep with the mid century era.”
