Located in the hills above Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, the Leslie Lane Residence is a striking example of a Beverly Hills midcentury remodel.

Nestled within the iconic 1960s development of Trousdale Estates, this renovation by Assembledge+ captures the true spirit of the Southern California mid-century movement, blending its architectural DNA with refined contemporary elements.

The extensive midcentury remodel involved expanding the original single-storey layout to support open-plan living, a signature of mid-century modern homes. A new wing was added, housing guest bedrooms and a double garage, while a sweeping roof extension offers both architectural presence and solar protection. This roof also defines the home’s entrance, leading directly into a living area framed by full-height glass.

A key highlight of this Beverly Hills remodel is the seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. Glass walls and sliding doors open the interiors to the landscape on both sides, enhancing the home’s sense of light, flow, and transparency. The open-plan layout links the kitchen, family room, and elevated dining area with views toward a large grassy garden and pool.

The kitchen design respects the original plan but introduces a lighter palette to contrast with the walnut and timber tones elsewhere. New cane-fronted joinery in the dining and living areas pays homage to the materials of the original house, echoing custom pieces like the wall-hung buffet and TV unit.

The master suite continues the theme of warmth and elegance, featuring terrazzo flooring, sliding glass walls, and a custom resin bathtub beneath a slotted skylight. Stainless steel columns and crafted walnut cabinetry bring understated luxury while anchoring this mid-century Beverly Hills home firmly in the present.

This Beverly Hills midcentury remodel not only restores a classic Trousdale Estates property but reimagines it for 21st-century living — balancing authenticity with innovation, and architectural heritage with modern comfort.
