We are planning a kitchen remodel and I had hoped to achieve the design we want using IKEA cabinets with fronts by Semihandmade. But the estimate is coming in way over budget. We can reduce it by $12K if we donโt do Semihandmade fronts. Has anyone done IKEA cabinets with IKEA fronts in their MCM home?

- โI did a bunch of research on installing IKEA cabinets. A lot of people complained they were constantly having to go back to the store for hardware. (Hinges, mounting brackets, screws, etc) my IKEA is 80 miles away so decided not to buy them. But they are great. I guess I would advise to order 10% extra hardware and hope for the best. If there was a cabinet maker that specialized in IKEA cabinets itโs that would be good.โ
- โYes, itโs more money but Iโd cut other things to come up with the 12k difference!!!โ
- โIโve used Ikea and I was happy with it. However, Iโve also had wood cabinets custom made by a local cabinet maker and that pricing came in comparable to Ikea + semi-handmade when I explored options and was much nicer. Iโd price out non-Ikea options as well to compare. But, if Ikea is what fits the budget, they can look great too.โ
- โOur Ikea cabinets are great, we did quartz countertops as well. We just went full Ikea and told ourselves in a few years weโll change out the fronts.โ

- โWe did IKEA cabinets and used The Cabinet Face for the fronts. To decrease cost we only used those on the top cabinets and stuck with Ikea faces for the lowers. No issues with installing and have been really happy with the outcome.โ
