Help with My Pink Bathroom

Mid century pink bathroom

My 1952 home is a small ranch. Many of the bathroom floor tiles have cracked. I don’t like the glass shower doors because they are hard to clean. I’ll be getting shower curtains instead. I have a limited budget, but I’d like ideas on color for the bathroom floor tile.

  • “I’d take those sliding doors over shower curtains any day.”
  • “Actually the only thing that throws me off at the moment is the counter top! Are you replacing all the floor tiles and the bath? I think black white and pink would work.”
  • “We had a pink tile bathroom and loved it, although the black does make it a bit trickier. If you remove the shower glass, check out the Flora/Bird Shower Curtain from Target (Opalhouse line) – I bet it will bring all the colors together.”
  • “Your tile is beautiful. You might regret changing it. I definitely would take the glass shower doors down. Usually they come right off. One time we came across some tracking the was adhered to the tile. Nothing would pry it loose and it took the tile with it. Best of luck! You’ll love it when it’s gone.”
  • “I really think the floor looks perfect and in great shape–I would not replace it–especially if you are on a budget. I would focus on a new vanity-the whole thing is out of place with style of the bathroom-or at least the counter and sink faucet fixtures. I also think a fun vibrant wallpaper would be fun too. It is a really cool bathroom!”
  • “Hate those old tub sliding doors too! As for floor, I could see something similar in style but darker – maybe black/grey/pink.”
  • “For the shower curtain, anything from transparent to light pink will make the space feel larger. If you are thinking of replacing tile, try www.bwtile.com. They specialize in vintage tiles and might be able to match the tiles you already have to save you money.”
  • I love this bathroom – and the floor. My parents’ 1958 ranch house was almost identical, except for the black tile trim. I agree with the consensus that the sink would be the first thing to change. But frankly, I could live with it “as is”.”
