It is true that living in a city like Los Angeles -where mid century modern design and modernist architecture basically were born- helps to make your house the perfect place to live; this is what I thought when I first saw this studio.
The owner, Ricardo, is of course an huge fan of mid century modern design and architecture. He found most of the pieces you can see in the pics below on Craiglist, eBay and small Los Angeles vintage shops. The bed itself -the piece Ricardo is more proud of- was found on Craiglist for almost no money!
Another thing I do like about this studio is how well organized and clutter-free is! In the interview Ricardo says something I always say as well: “You want to create a space that’s both inviting and functional. Small spaces very easily become cluttered and claustrophobic, so it’s crucial to find furniture that is proportionate in scale to the area you’re working with. It’s all about finding a good balance.” Tell me about that…
Together with the well organized space, the funny small mid century objects all around the house are another thing that connects me deeply with this space; my own house is full of playful small objects that my friends always have fun of 😉
Last but not least, the color palette! I really like the contrast between the mid century modern wooden pieces and the gray walls, fantastic choice.
If you enjoyed this house tour, don’t forget to check the other mid century modern houses I wrote about so far!
