A Modernist Renovation to a 1938 Los Angeles Home

This home in the Silver Lake neighborhood In Los Angeles sits atop a hillside with stunning views. The homeowners enlisted Annie Ritz and Daniel Rabin of And And And Studio to renovate the 1938 home. The studio helps clients to achieve  unique and holistic spaces.

The interior was dark and small and was essentially gutted to create the oasis it is today. Due to zoning regulations, a key point was to find more space within the restrictions. This was achieved by enclosing two balconies and removing a chimney which had run through all three floors of the home. This resulted in a 40% increase in square footage.

Color is used thoughtfully throughout the home, with a green and organic look and feel to the living room. An olive green velvet sofa is surrounded by open shelves and plants which complement the views through the large and open windows.

A two-toned green bathroom which combines wood, speckled tiles and white add to the modernist look and feel. No attention to detail was spared as noted in the stunning custom built cabinetry and  panel and shelving systems throughout the home.
