Designed by Architect Raul F. Garduno and completed in 1962, this hillside house in Los Angeles has a breath-taking view of Silver Lake and the Hollywood Sign.
Raul F. Garduno designed the house with a steel and glass, post and beam structure typical of many other Mid-century Modern homes in Los Angeles. The house was featured in the Los Angeles Times and “Art and Architecture” magazine in 1961.

This cantilevered house sits on a hillside with 500 square feet of decks almost entirely surrounding it. Acacia and pine trees at the back offer privacy and shade for the inside which is separated from the outside only by glass walls. These surround the living and family room, with an open floor plan and kitchen in the center. The original freestanding fireplace makes the living area cozy.
Raul F. Garduno designed this hillside house with not only the views in mind, but also positioning it in a way to take advantage of the gentle, north-westerly afternoon winds for which Silver Lake is famous.
Probably one of the most intriguing features of this house is its original kitchen featuring walnut cabinetry with a cooktop, double-oven, and built in barbecue that give us a hint of what a house in the 1960s was really like.
